The Leash Ring says my pet is offline but I know she *is* online

If you are sure your pet is online, but the Leash Ring is reporting otherwise, it could be because:
HUD not worn.
Make sure Pet is wearing the correct HUD! The same version that gave you the Leash Ring. An older HUD will not work.
Pet just TP'd or walked into a new parcel.
On entering a new parcel or sim, Pet's HUD has to acquire a new URL (server address) from SL. This could take a minute or two.
This URL is needed for the Leash Ring to be able to talk to it.
Unfortunately a parcel has a limited number of URLs to give out. If all has been given out, Pet's HUD will not get a new URL.
It will continue to try to get a new URL periodically. Meantime, the HUD is uncontactable as it has no active URL.
You just need to keep trying to reach Pet by clicking the Leash Ring.
SL resources are full.
Even if the sub has a valid URL, there is also a small chance that at the moment the Leash Ring is trying to talk to the HUD, SL's resources that enable that connection are full and the connection fails. Just try again later.
Pet's HUD is borked.
Try TP'ing the sub *from* LULU's Secret Docks. - it usually has enough URLs to give out.
If Pet is still unreachable, her HUD might have been borked. Try:
(a) restarting the HUD (HUD menu > settings... > restart...), or
(b) getting a new HUD (HUD menu > settings... > replace HUD...)
