During setup, whenever you try to ctrl-drag the item from your inventory to the Setup Ball, you crash. And you have to start over again.

The item is at the bottom of your inventory window, outside your Inventory folder. Whenever you try to drag or ctrl-drag this item anywhere (whether into your inventory folder, or into the Setup Ball), you will crash. This is an old SL asset server "parentless" bug that comes back sporadically. 

The fix: When asked to ctrl-drag the item into the Setup Ball, you need to copy the item into your inventory folder first. Only then can you ctrl-drag it into the Setup Ball.

1. LEFT-Click the item that is outside the inventory folder, at the bottom of your inventory window. Do not RIGHT-click as this might also crash you.
2. Press Ctrl-C to copy the item.
3. Now position your cursor anywhere in your inventory folder (the main Object folder is fine), and press Ctrl-V to paste.
4. Now you can Ctrl-drag the newly-pasted item from your inventory folder and into the Setup Ball. The setup will continue normally.

Do this every time your item appears at the bottom of your inventory window, outside the inventory folder (i.e. the item has no parent folder).
