How do I end a Gag Trial?

This applies to HUD v6. If you have HUD7 and Gag v5 and above, go here instead.

Ending a Trial

A Gag Trial ends when any of the following happens:

  • you talk in chat.
  • you are unlocked (either by self-timer or by your Owner).

If you have spent the requisite time in silence, you will be admitted to the next Circle. But the current Trial has not ended, as it is possible for you to go for a better highscore (hours spent in silence) – though this will not get you to the next Circle. Only a new Trial can get you to the next Circle. Even if you are achieving a new highscore, the Scoreboard will not be updated till the current Trial has ended.

Going AFK

You will be prompted periodically to ensure that you are not cheating by going afk during the Trials. If there is a no-afk breach (failure to enter the correct response to the prompt), the penalty depends on whether or not you have already levelled (admitted to the next Circle):
  1. If you have not yet levelled during the current Trial, penalty time will be added to the time required for you to level. For this reason, it is important not to use the self-timer during Trials, as you might end the Trial before the extended required time is up.
  2. If you have already levelled, the Trial will end immediately, and your highscore is set.

Example Scenarios

  1. Sub spends 2 hours on Day 1 in silence. Sub logs out in the middle of the Trial (none of the Trial-end conditions are fulfilled).
  2. Twenty-four hours later, sub logs back in, and spends another 2 hours in silence (on the same Trial), before she talked. Then she logged out.
  3. Twenty-four hours later, she logs back in and spends another 2 hours in silence, but with the Alarm turned on (for talking on Day 2).

The sub’s total Trial time would have been 4 hours, which is the cumulative online time that the sub kept silence.

The log-out time does not count, and she is not penalized for logging out and back in.

However, after a Trial has ended (in this case, by talking at the end of Day2), further time spent in silence is not counted.

That said, had the Trial ended in success, though further time is not counted towards the next trial, the time spent is recorded in the sub’s highscore of longest time spent in silence. This highscore is displayed every time the sub wears the gag.
